A sad commentary of Our Times....

I was listening to the radio on my way to work this morning and was disturbed by something I heard. Well, maybe disturbed isn't the right word, but still... The station was re-capping American Idol, (of which I'm a big fan). They commented on Christy Lee Cook singing Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA". It wasn't the rendition that galled them so much as the song. They hate the song. It sounded to me like they just think it's stupid to play or sing that song because we're patriotic and care about our nation. Maybe I'm wrong. The worst part was that a Serviceman called in to the radio station and bitched that they were tired of people playing that song when they come home and they think it's stupid that we do! Well, I think it's terrible that he called in and figuratively slapped in the face the very people who welcomed home he and his fellow troops and called them Heros. There was a time in this nation when the men who fought were spat upon and shunned. It's a beautiful, meaningful song and reguardless of if you're a fan of it or not, have the class to appreciate those who appreciate you. After all, it is just a song. It's the fact that someone thought enough of all of our troops to say 'Thank You'.

God Bless the USA...

Check out the headline below. (from the CBS news...“Strange News”)

God Bless Rock & Roll

I have a rogue eyebrow hair. I saw it in the mirror just now. I missed it at home because the light in my bathroom isn't the best for spotting that sort of thing. At any rate, I'm now self-concious of that little rebel strand.

Speaking of rebels...that David Cook rocker guy on American Idol is pretty great. David Cook has nice eyebrows. Can't wait 'till he releases an album so I can add it to the collection of my other idol boys...I love Bo Bice and Chris Daughtry, too. Great tunes...that's what it's all about.

When I was much younger, (and a rebel myself), my pals and I spent countless Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons cruisin' and boozin' (we were bad! Hope my kids don't read this!) And listening to great classic rock. We were all about the music. Great times!

Have and Awesome Day (and for Cripe's sake, pluck your eyebrows!)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Old Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Have an Awesome Day,

By George, I think I've got it!

I heard on the news that major pharmaceutical companies spend $7 billion a year on advertising directed specifically at physicians. You know...free pens, drug samples, printed sticky notes, etc. The list is endless. I bet if you raid enough panty drawers you'll find some underroos printed with their logos, too. (What are you wearing today?) LOL. In all seriousness though, I don't know what they spend on other advertising directed at consumers....(think lovely young men and women running through meadows with pets...), but let's assume that they spend $7 billion on that, too. (We won't even count the boat loads of cash dumped into campain contributions....Yet.) So, here's my solution to the "healthcare crisis". Crisis, my butt. All the government needs to do is impose 1 - 2 billion dollar advertising limits for both healthcare professional and consumer advertising and not allow campaign contributions. (that'll save 10 - 12 billion anually) If they'd impose those limits at least, we wouldn't have to pay such high healthcare costs. Make no mistake, people...you and I are paying for that crap. Not only that, how many millions of people are uninsured or underinsured? Use the saved funds to pay for medications for the elderly who have to choose to eat or heat their homes or buy their medications. At least Walmart, HyVee and some other retailers are offering affordable generic medications now. Maybe Gramma' can keep the ol' ticker going a few more years.

I have lots more ideas about saving money...First, let's fire all of the government workers we don't need..(That'd balance the budget quick!) and take away the free healthcare that government fat-cats receive. Hey, I'm poor and pissed off that the tax dollars I work like a dog to pay go to a corrupt governer to pay for highpriced hookers he finds on MySpace, some sheik living in a palace in Saudi Arabia because I pay over 3 bucks a gallon for gas and do without any little luxuries because I can barely fill my tank enough to get to work so I can get paid wages that allow me to barely scrape by and put food on my kids' table (and pay my taxes!). And I'm one of the luckier ones. I'm not losing my house or living in a shelter or prostituting myself to feed my kids. I actually have it pretty good.

Thanks everyone for letting me vent. I hope a lot of people see this note, get fired up and get it going to any and all political figures and keep shoving it at them until they actually change something for the good of all of us.

Have an Awesome Day,

Look Ma'....No HAIR!

So....I've cut my hair off...LOL. Not all of it, but about 6-7 inches of it. I'm still having a bad hair life, of course, but there's just not as much hair to deal with. Just thought I'd share that with everyone as I've really not had much to say lately. I've had a few funny emails. I lived through the flu! So much for getting that shot! Thank you very much... David what's-his-name-former-male-stripper-dude got voted off of American Idol last night. Good. Next that needs to go is Kristie-Lee-Dingy-blonde-desicrated-the-Beatles-song-by-making-it-country-Cook...what was that girl thinking! Well....I think it's time for that little blonde tart to go home! LOL. Have to go. I'll try to think of some interesting drivel to share with you all soon. Until then....

Chuck E. Cheeses...Where a Kid can be...Mortified!

I read on the "Strange News" on the CBS website that two mom's brawled at a Chuck E. Cheese because one mom said to the other mom her kid was "hogging" an arcade game. Are you serious? This was a nine-year-old's birthday party. Way to go, Mom. Bet that poor kid never forgets his special day! I hope I never have to call 911 over two broads dukin' out at Chuck E. Cheese if I take my kids there! Maybe we'd better just stick to birthday parties in the park and slumber parties at our house. May you all have wonderful, non-violent birthdays!

Have an Awesome Day....
